The Red House is a gable fronted house located in Skeiðflötur in the south of Iceland and is based on a traditional Viking long house (langhús) The house will be constructed from timber and finished with red panels. The main room of the house (skáli) contains the kitchen, living area (stofa) and a central open heath/fire. The living accommodation is in one large room. (baðstofa layout) The bedrooms and bathrooms are accessed from the main living area via passageways (gangabær.) A stone gable end will form the new entrance to the house. This entrance will be used to store coats and boots and logs for the fire.

The house will be a weekend retreat for the clients.
